Wimbledon takes place at the beginning of July each year and is the most prestigious tennis competition. If a player was given a choice of only winning one Grand Slam event in their career, most would choose Wimbledon, which is the only grass court slam. There are always plenty of {tennis betting] options, and this guide will help with your bets.

✔️ Wimbledon Tennis Betting Tips
In this section of my betting guide, I am going to provide you with some of my top Wimbledon betting tips for this year's competition. I am obviously not obliging you to agree with me, but it is always a wise move to check out what experienced sports bettors are thinking before you go ahead and slap down a bet.
Who Will Lift the Men's Title?
Several players will fancy their chances of going on to win Wimbledon and because of the competitive nature of men's tennis nowadays, there are some decent odds floating around. The likes of Sinner, Alcaraz, Zverev, and Djokovic will all fancy their chances on the grass, but I have got to back the latter, despite his recent injury issues.
Top Tip 1: Bet on Djokovic to win: It had seemed unlikely that Djokovic would even compete at Wimbledon 2024 after undergoing knee surgery recently, but the Serb continues to impress on and off the court. He has made a miraculous recovery and believes that he will be able to play to the best of his ability in London. He played some top tennis at the French Open before he had to withdraw, and he will be eager to make sure that he wins at least one title this calendar year. He has been the king of SW19 in recent years, so he will not lie down without a fight.
Who Are the Dark Horses in the Men's Event?
While I can see Djokovic going on to win his eighth Wimbledon title, several other players cannot be ruled out and come with much longer betting odds. Some outsiders who are worth considering a punt on, even if it is an each-way bet, include the likes of Jack Draper, Matteo Berrettini, and Hubert Hurkacz.
Top Tip 2: Bet on Hubert Hurkacz to serve up a surprise: The Pole has the natural attributes to do well on grass and he has been playing well this year. He recently made it to the final of Halle, where he lost to Sinner over two tie-breaks. During that tournament, he showed us just how good his serve is on grass as he notched up 77 aces. A huge serve can take someone far and he has been quite fortunate with the draw. Definitely worth an each-way punt.
Who Will Lift the Women's Title?
With Aryna Sabalenka having pulled out due to injury and Iga Swiatek getting a pretty rough draw, the women's title is definitely wide open this year. Swiatek is the favourite, but one must keep in mind that she has never made it past the quarter-final at Wimbledon. Rybakina, Jabeur, and Gauff will all fancy their chances of going deep this year. However, I have got to put my money on Jabeur.
Top Tip 3: Bet on Ons Jabeur to win: A week or so ago it would have been a toss-up between Swiatek and Sabalenka to go on and lift the title, but Sabalenka has pulled out with an injury while Swiatek has been given a very tough draw. Jabeur made it to the final in 2022 and 2023, which is an indicator that her game is very well suited for grass courts. The draw has been pretty kind to her too, so she will fancy her chances of making it deep into the competition, and then it is anyone's game.
Who Are the Dark Horses in the Women's Event?
There are a few other female players who will be confident about being able to cause a bit of an upset at Wimbledon this year, including the likes of Madison Keys, Jessica Pegula, Naomi Osaka, and Emma Radacanu. There is always a dark horse for any competition, and the dark horse that I like the look of the most is Pegula.
Top Tip 4: Bet on Pegula to surprise: Pegula's flat and aggressive groundstrokes translate really well on grass as the balls that she hit skid through on the surface. She won a recent event on grass, which will fill her with plenty of confidence for her assault on Wimbledon. She also decided to give the French Open a miss, which means that she will be very fresh.
Below you can see a summary of my betting tips for this year's Wimbledon:
Categories | Prediction | Reason | Bookmaker |
---|---|---|---|
Outright Men's Winner | Novak Djokovic | Has dominated Wimbledon in recent years and seems to be over his recent fitness issues | odds of 3.95 |
Male Dark Horse | Hubert Hurkacz | His huge service game will cause anyone that he comes up against a number of issues | 15.00 |
Outright Women's Winner | Ons Jabeur | The draw has been kind to her and she has made it to the final of the previous two Wimbledons | 9.00 |
Female Dark Horse | Jessica Pegula | Her game is perfectly suited for the grass as she manages to get the ball to skid off the grass | 18.70 |
🏆Wimbledon Potential Winners
In the section above I provided you with my betting tips for this year's men's and women's Wimbledon events, and in this section I am going to provide you with some more information for the top contenders.
I will take a look at their playing characteristics and how they have performed in 2024 since this can be really useful information when betting on big tennis events.
Novak Djokovic
During his career, the Serb has managed to pick up a staggering 24 Grand Slams, which is a total that is unlikely to ever be beaten. His favourite surface is cushion acrylic as he has ten Australian Open titles, but he is equally as good on grass as he has won Wimbledon a total of eight times. He has few weaknesses, while his backhand and serve are second to none. He has not won a title in 2024 though, so he will be eager to put that right.
Jannik Sinner
The young Italian is now ranked as the best male tennis player in the world, and he owes his success to his high levels of fitness and his quality service game and forehands. He also hits the ball really hard, causing plenty of issues for his opponents. At the start of the year, he won the Australian Open and he has won three other titles since.
Carlos Alcaraz
He is just 21 years of age, but he already has three Grand Slam titles under his belt. If he can stay injury-free and manages to play well into his 30s, then there is no reason why he cannot pick up more than 20 Grand Slams. His main weapon is his forehand, which is devastating all around the court, while his drop shots are second to none. He enters Wimbledon full of confidence having won Roland Garros last month.
Iga Swiatek
The young Pole is the number one ranked female player in the world and her success can be put down to the she is super aggressive on the court. She will always look to attack her opponents rather than defend, and she also does not make that many unforced errors. She has won five titles this season, including the French Open. However, she will need to overcome a tough draw if she is to win Wimbledon for the first time.
Coco Guaff
The 20-year-old American has one Grand Slam to her name, and I do not doubt that she will add to that figure shortly. She is one of the best female athletes on the circuit at present, which means that her opponents have to work hard to get any sort of point from her. She is also a strong woman, so any poor shot is quickly punished. She has one title this year, while she also made it to the semis of both Slams.
Ons Jabeur
The Tunisian has never won a Grand Slam, but she has made it to three finals in her career. When she is playing she tries to vary her style of play so that her opponents do not know what is going to come next. She also loves to use drop shots and slices to earn her points and does not mind what type of surface she is playing on. She has not won a title this year, but she certainly has a good chance of claiming her first Slam.

💸 Best Wimbledon Betting Markets
There are plenty of different Wimbledon betting markets that you can try your luck with, and in this section, I am going to take you through some of the most popular ones.
Outright Winner/Each Way
Outright winner bets are simple to get to grips with since all you need to do is try to guess the player that you think will go on and win the title. If you feel that a player has the potential to do well but you are not 100% certain as to whether they will go on to win the whole thing, then you can put down an each-way bet, which is where you will receive a smaller payout should your chosen player make the final.
Match Betting
If you do not want to bet on a player to win the title, you can bet on who you think will win a particular match. This is a popular bet because of its simplicity. If your chosen player wins their match, you win your bet. If they lose their match, you also lose.
Handicap Betting
Sometimes there will be a match where the odds for the favourites are too low for you to bother with and the odds for the underdog are too high to be seriously worth your consideration. When there is such a mismatch, which usually occurs at the start of a big event such as Wimbledon, you can level the playing field by giving a set advantage/disadvantage to a player. For example, you could give Djokovic a -1.5 set disadvantage to boost his odds, meaning he would need to win by two sets.
In-Play Betting
This is when you bet on an outcome when the match has already started. There are plenty of live tennis betting options, with the most popular ones listed below:
- Who will win the next point?
- Who will win the next game?
- How many games will a set have?
- Who will land the next break?
🏅 Past Wimbledon Winners
Those who have had success in previous editions of a competition will know what it takes to have more success. Their vast experience should also mean that they will be less impacted by nerves when the heat is on. Thus, below you can find previous winners of the men's and women's Wimbledon.
