Australian Open Odds, Betting Tips & Predictions 2024

There are four big Grand Slam tennis competitions that take place throughout a calendar year, and the Australian Open is the first of them. It is usually played in the middle of January over two weeks at Melbourne Park, and is a great way for players to get the new year off to a flier. The other three slams, in order, are the French Open at the end of May, Wimbledon at the end of June, and the US Open at the end of August. The Australian Open always has plenty of drama and a lot of tennis betting options, so here is a guide to help you bet on it.

✔️ Australian Open Tennis Betting Tips

Now that you know where you can find the best odds for betting on this first Grand Slam of the year, this betting guide shall now give you some top betting tips that you should keep in mind when you are considering what to bet on at your chosen sports betting site.

Who Will Lift the Men's Title

Some sports events seem to always be won by one particular team or player, and the Australian Open is a competition that definitely fits into this category as Novak Djokovic has lifted the title no fewer than ten times. He collected his first Norman Brookes Cup in 2008, and since then only Roger Federer, Rafa Nadal, and Stan Wawrinka have been the other players to win the title. Out of these three, Wawrinka is the only one who will be taking part in this year's edition, but he has no chance of winning, in my view.

Top Tip 1: I would bet on Djokovic to go ahead and claim his 11th Australian Open trophy as he always brings his A-game to Australia. He has won his previous 28 matches on Australian soil, with his last loss coming back in 2018. He has won four of the previous five Australian Opens, the only reason he did not win the 2022 edition was because he was not allowed to compete. He won the Australian Open, French Open, and the US Open, and I am backing him to get his 2024 off to a great start. If you want to back him to win, then Betiton Sport are offering 2.05.

Who Are the Dark Horses in the Men's Event?

While I do think that Djokovic will carry on his dominance in this tournament, some other quality players will be confident in their ability to take the trophy home. This includes the likes of Alcaraz, Sinner, and Medvedev. This abundance of quality is what makes tournaments such as the Australian Open a very entertaining watch.

Top Tip 2: If you are not too impressed by the odds that are on offer for a Djokovic win, then a good outside bet is Jannik Sinner. His Grand Slam portfolio at present is not that great, but he did beat Djokovic two times towards the end of 2023. He played his part in helping Italy take home the Davis Cup, while he also picked up the Masters 1000 Trophy. Sinner has been seeded fourth in Melbourne, meaning that he will not meet the other three favourites until the semi-finals. If you want to back Sinner to take Djokovic's throne, then Betiton Sport are offering odds of 7.10.

Who Will Lift the Women's Title?

While the men's Australian Open has been dominated by Djokovic, there has not been the same type of domination in the women's Australian Open. There has not been a back-to-back champion since Victoria Azarenka in 2012 and 2013. Since 2008, there have been eight different winners of this competition, with Aryna Sabalenka being the reigning champion.

Top Tip 3: If you want to bet on the winner of women's Australian Open 2024, then I recommend that you think about putting your money on Iga Swiatek. The young Pole had a really good 2023, winning two Grand Slams and picking up the WTA Finals trophy, so it is not much of a surprise that she is the favourite with the bookmakers. She has been consistently good for some time now and never knows when she is beaten. If you want to put money on Swiatek to win, then Mr. Mega Sports are currently offering odds of 3.55.

Who Are the Dark Horses in the Women's Event?

While I believe that Swiatek will go on to lift the Australian Open title, she will need to overcome some strong competition if she is to go on and win her fifth Grand Slam. For instance, reigning champion, Sabalenka, will be a threat due to her excess power, while Rybakina has one of the best serves on the women's circuit.

Top Tip 4: If the odds for a Swiatek win do not appeal to you much, then my suggestion for a dark horse is not Rybakina or Sabalenka, it is Coco Gauff. The young American continues to get better, and she has shown how proficient she can be on all different types of surfaces. She finished her 2023 season on a high as she won in Cincinnati and Washington. If you want to bet on Gauff to win her second Grand Slam, then Mr Mega are offering 9.35 at this moment in time.

🏆Australian Open Potential Winners

Above I provided you with my predictions for both editions of the Australian Open, and in this part of my Australian Open 2024 betting preview, I am going to give you some more information on the top contenders. I will take a look at their playing characteristics as well as how they did in 2023 since this is all important information when it comes to placing bets on Aus Open results.

Novak Djokovic

The Serb has no fewer than 24 Grand Slams under his belt, which is one of those records that is very unlikely to be beaten. He has been completely dominant at the Australian Open, so he will be full of confidence heading into this competition. He owes his success to the fact that he has little to no weaknesses, while his serve and backhand are the best in the game. He won seven titles in 2023, which included three Grand Slams - from the 63 matches that he took part in, he lost only seven matches.

Carlos Alcaraz

The Spaniard is just 20 years old, but he has already won two Grand Slams. If he can keep his fitness levels high and keeps playing for the next 15 years, there is a good chance that he will finish his career with at least 20 Grand Slams. His forehand is his main weapon as it is devastating from anywhere on the court, while there are not many players out there who can read his drop shots. In 2023, he picked up six titles, including his first win at Wimbledon, while he lost just 12 of the 77 games that he played.

Jannik Sinner

The Italian has not yet won a Grand Slam, but I feel that it will not be long before he is lifting his first major trophy. The 22-year-old is certainly one to look out for, and not many players on the circuit will relish taking him on due to how hard he hits the ball. Additionally, he is known for having a great forehand and a really good serve - although, he does need to improve his serving accuracy. At the end of 2023, he showed how good he can be by beating Djokovic twice.

Iga Swiatek

The Pole is the best player on the women's circuit, and she is the number one ranked player in the world due to her style of play that focuses on attacking her opponents rather than defending against them. She hits a lot more winners than unforced errors, so it is not surprising that she has won 17 titles, which includes four Grand Slams. In 2023, she won a total of six titles, losing only 11 times from 79 matches.

Aryna Sabalenka

Sabalenka is the reigning Australian Open champion as she beat Rybakina last year to pick up her first Grand Slam title. She now has a total of 13 titles to her name, and the success that she has had can be put down to her powerful servers and huge groundstrokes. One thing to point out though is that she can sometimes suffer from nerves when the big moments arrive in a match, so this is something that you might want to keep in mind when placing your bets. In 2023, she picked up three titles and won 55 of the 69 matches that she played.

Coco Guaff

The American is only 19 years of age, and in 2023 she won her first Grand Slam by winning the US Open. Of all of the players on the women's circuit, she is one of the best athletes, which makes it hard for her opponents to get past her defences. She can win points that many other players would not get anywhere close to. If her opponent strikes a poor shot, she will use her powerful strokes to punish it. Alongside the US Open, she also won the Cincinnati Open and the Washington Open in 2023.

⚡ Best Australian Open Tennis Betting Sites?

When you are betting on the 2024 Australian Open, some top advice that I can give is to ensure that you are betting at the best bookmakers. Thus, below you can find out more about five bookies that I feel are the best for UK tennis bettors.

Betiton

Betiton has only been in existence since March 2020, which means that it will soon just be four years of age - this makes it a baby when compared to other top bookmakers. However, in this relatively short time frame, they have gotten better and better and will be around for many more years to come. Their popularity is due to their easy-to-use interface and the fact they offer top odds and a range of markets for all of the most popular sports.

If you opt to register with Betiton, then you can place a qualifying bet of £15 and then claim a free bet worth £10. Make sure to read the terms and conditions that apply before claiming a bonus.

If you want to find out more about this bookie, then take a read of our Betiton review.

Mr. Mega Sports

If you opt to sign up with Mr. Mega, then you will be able to make use of a range of markets and top odds for the most popular sports in the UK. They will not disappoint you with their tennis betting opportunities, and you will have plenty of Australian Open betting options available when the tournament is being played.

What kind of welcome bonus do they offer? Well, it is the same one as Betiton is offering, so there is a £10 free bet available when you put down a £15 bet.

William Hill

William Hill has been around for many years now, and is one of the oldest bookmakers out there. They have a reputation as being a great place for betting on big horse racing events, but they also provide top betting opportunities for other popular sports like tennis. When the Australian Open is taking place, William Hill will offer their customers some top betting advice for the tournament, which definitely appeals to many bettors. They will also not let you down with their deposit and withdrawal banking options.

If you decide to sign up with William Hill, then what kind of welcome bonus is available? Well, after you have put down a qualifying bet of £10, you will earn free bets worth a total of £40. Furthermore, they like to offer competition-specific promotions such as enhanced odds.

Our William Hill review will tell you all that you need to know about this top bookie.

Kwiff

Kwiff arrived in Europe in 2020, and they got a lot of praise for the services that they offer. They then decided to broaden their horizons and enter the United Kingdom sports betting market, and they have had a lot of success on these shores. They can put their success down to their easy and simple interface, their competitive odds, market variety, and range of bonuses. They offer a "Supercharged Cashout" feature that is unique.

If you opt to register with Kwiff, then what kind of welcome offer is available? Well, if you sign up and place a £10 bet, then you can claim free bets worth £30. As always, before claiming any bonus, read the terms that apply.

If you want to find out more about this bookie, then here is our in-depth Kwiff review.

Spreadex Sports

Spreadex has been around for over two decades, and their success can be put down to the fact that they are one of the only bookies that offer British punters the option to place sports spread bets and make use of fixed odds from one account. You have the option of buying or selling an outcome, which is something that is rare on betting platforms in the United Kingdom. With regard to regular sports betting, I do not think you will be disappointed by the odds and markets that are available.

If you sign up with Spreadex Sports and put dow a qualifying bet of £10, then you will receive £40 of free bets. They also have other promos and a range of top sports blogs that you can make use of.

Check out our Spreadex review to find out more.

Are you searching for some quality free bets and other promotions that you can use when gambling at Australian Open betting sites? If yes, then feel free to check out the table below:

💸 Best Australian Open Betting Markets

Whether you are betting at new UK betting sites or more established ones, you will find a range of markets for the Australian Open tennis 2024. Below I am going to take a look at the most popular markets for this event:

Australian Open Winner/Each Way

Outright winner bets are easy to come to terms with since what you need to do is try to predict the player that you believe will go on to lift the title. If you believe that a player will do well but are not entirely sure as to whether they will win the title, then you can decide to place an each-way wager, where you will get a smaller payout if your selected player makes it to the final.

Match Betting

If you do not want to put money on someone to win the title, then you can put a bet on the player that you think will win a certain match. This bet type has become popular because of its simplicity. If the player that you choose wins the game, then your bet is successful, while your stake will be lost if they lose the match.

Handicap Betting

Sometimes, usually in the early stages of a big tennis competition, there will be some big mismatches where the odds are not in your favour. This is because the odds for the favourite will be way too low, while the chances of the underdog winning will be slim. In such a case, you can decide to give a set disadvantage or advantage to one of the players. For instance, if Djokovic is playing, you could opt to give him a -1.5 set disadvantage, which would boost his odds as he would need to win by two clear sets.

In-Play Betting

There once was a time when you could not place a bet on an event once it had begun, but this is not the case any more thanks to the creation of in-play betting. All of the best bookies will offer various live tennis betting options, and some popular ones can be found below:

  • Who will win the next game?
  • Who will win the next point?
  • Who will get the next break?
  • How many games will there be in a set?

Set Betting

With this kind of betting market, what you have to do is try to predict the final score of a match. Since this is no easy feat, you will find high odds attached to such a market.

🏅 Australian Open Winners

Before you go ahead and bet on the Australian Open tennis 2024, it is a wise move to check out the previous champions. Why is this the case?
