Leinster Hurling Championship Winner – Outright (2025)

The 2025 Leinster Hurling Championship will see Kilkenny enter the competition as the five-time defending champions having won the competition in 2020,21,22,23 and last year in 2024. The Cats will once again be the team to beat, but there are many exciting storylines for fans to follow during the 2025 Leinster hurling season. Galway will want to reassert themselves after a disappointing 2024, while Dublin will look to build on reaching the Provincial decider last year. Wexford are always a threat to any of the Leinster sides on their day while Offaly will probably be looking to finish ahead of Antrim in what is expected to be the battle at the bottom of the League table.

Leinster Hurling Championship Betting Tips

A full list of betting markets for the 2025 Leinster Hurling Championship will become available the closer we get to the start of the 2025 Leinster hurling season, but for now here are a couple of early Leinster hurling betting tips that be useful on your hurling betting journey.

Back Kilkenny to Win the 2025 Leinster Championship

The Cats completed a 5 in a row of Leinster wins in 2024 and will be heavy favourites to do so again in 2025. Derek Lyng has continued where Brian Cody left off by leading the county to Provincial titles in his 2 seasons in charge up to now but making that All-Ireland breakthrough has so far eluded him as manager. Maybe 2025 will be the year Kilkenny return Liam McCarthy to Marble County. If you fancy Kilkenny to keep their Leinster title, Myriadplay is offering odds of 2.00.

Galway to reach the Leinster Final

The return of Micheal Donoghue as Galway manager for 2025 should renew optimism in the county after a disappointing couple of years for the Tribesmen. Donaghue led the county to their first All-Ireland in 29 years back in 2017, but whether he can bring the county back to those heights in his second spell, we will have to wait and see. A strong Leinster Championship performance in 2025 would give him a good start, and the odds on them reaching the final might be tempting once they are released closer to the Championship.

Leinster Hurling Championship Betting Markets

Now that you know some of the top UK betting sites for betting on the Leinster Championship and the best Leinster hurling betting odds, it is time to have a look at some of the most popular hurling betting markets available to fans wishing to have a bet on the 2025 Leinster Hurling Championship.

Outright Championship winner

The outright Championship winner market is an extremely popular bet with hurling betting fans. In this bet you are simply selecting which county you predict will win the 2025 Leinster Hurling Championship. For Example, if you think Galway will break Kilkenny’s dominance and win it, and they do, you will win your bet.

Over/Under Market

The over/under markets for the 2025 Leinster Championship can account for goals, points, or the combined tallies of both. It can also mean that you can bet on whether the number of fouls or cards dished out by a referee will be over or under a predetermined number set by each individual sportsbook.

Odd/Even Final Points Total

With this bet, you are predicting if the total combined score at the end of the match will be an even number or an odd number. For example, in a Galway vs Kilkenny match if you have selected that the total score will be an odd number, and the final score is 1-25 – 2-18, you will lose your bet as the final score has a total of 52 points.

Handicap Betting

Handicap betting is one of the most popular bets for hurling betting fans every year. Handicap betting is supposed to balance out a match where there is a perceived gap in class between the two teams. This is done by awarding a points head start to the weaker team, and a points deficit to the stronger team. This could be particularly useful in the Leinster Championship as for the bigger teams like Kilkenny, there might be matches that may be perceived to be one-sided games, and handicap betting can make them a more interesting match to bet on.

Total Points Over/Under

When you are betting on the total points over/under market you are trying to predict if the combined score of the two teams will be over or under a preset number chosen by each betting site. This can be an enjoyable bet to do if you think a game will be an open, high-scoring spectacle that has been underestimated by a betting site. For example, in a Leinster Championship match between Wexford and Dublin, if the bookies have a preset tally of 55 points, and you bet on it being higher than that, and the final score is 4-23 – 2-22, you will win your bet, as the total tally is 63.

History of the Leinster Hurling Championships

The Leinster Senior Hurling Championship is an annual hurling competition that has been running since 1888. It is played out as part of the wider All-Ireland Hurling Championship and is organised by the Leinster Council wing of the wider Gaelic Athletic Association, (GAA). The very first Leinster Championship match was played between Dublin and Kildare on Sunday, June 3rd, 1888. Kilkenny are the most successful team with 76 titles, in fact of the 136 years of the competition, Kilkenny, Dublin and Wexford have won 121 of them, with Offaly winning 9 and Galway and Laois on 3 each. Kilkenny are the dominant force in the province now, winning the last 5 years, and will be heavily fancied by many to make it 6 in a row in 2025.

Leinster Championship Format

The Leinster Senior Hurling Championship was for years a straight knock-out competition, but in 2018 a new Round Robin League style format was introduced in the Leinster and Munster Championships. In the Championship, 6 counties compete and in 2025, the 6 counties will be, Kilkenny, Galway, Dublin, Wexford, Antrim and Offaly. Each county will play each other once. 2 points are awarded for a match win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a defeat. After all the teams have played one another, they are then ranked in a League Table based on the total number of points they have gained over their matches. The top two teams in the table will move on to compete for the Bob O’Keefe Cup in the Leinster Final, with the third-placed team moving onto the All-Ireland Preliminary Quarterfinal stage of the Championship. The team ranked last in the table will be relegated to the Joe McDonagh Cup for the following season.

Leinster Hurling Championships Winners

Kilkenny are by some distance the most successful team in the history of the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship. The ‘Cats’ have won 76 provincial titles, including the last five seasons. Dublin are next on the Roll of Honour with 24 Leinster titles, followed by Wexford with 21. Offaly come next with 9 Bob O’ Keefe Cups, followed by Laois and Galway with 3 titles each.
