Euro 2024 started with 24 teams hoping to reach European glory, but now only four teams are left with their dreams still intact. The first semi-final will see Spain take on France at the Allianz Arena in Munich on Tuesday the 8th of July with a kick-off time of 20:00 GMT. Spain have been the outstanding team, but you can never dismiss France as they have quality in abundance. Who will go on and book themselves a spot in the final on Sunday? Keep on reading my prediction to find out who I think will come out on top.
🏆 Spain vs France Prediction
For me, Spain have been the best team in this competition, but they have not had much competition due to many of the other top teams underperforming. They were in a tricky group with Italy, Croatia, and Albania, but they navigated that with three wins from three games - they scored five and conceded no goals. They took on Georgia in the round of 16 and dispatched them 4-1 to book a quarter-final against Germany. They had a tough match against the Germans which went to extra time and looked like it was heading for penalties, but Mikel Merino had other ideas as he headed Spain into the semi-finals in the 119th minute.
France are yet to hit their straps at this competition, but they still find themselves in the semi-final. One thing that might surprise you is the fact that France have not scored a goal from open play yet. In the group stage, they finished with five points, scoring two goals: one own goal and a penalty. They took on Belgium in the last 16, and it was another match of attrition which was settled by a late own goal by Jan Vertonghen. They took on Portugal in the quarter-final, which ended 0-0 after 120 minutes, but it was far from a boring draw as there were 35 shots on goal overall. It went to penalties and the French came out on top.
Spain have impressed me the most at Euro 2024, so I am going to back them to come out on top. However, France will not make it easy for them even though they have not been at their best. It will be a close game and I can see Spain coming out on top 1-0.
My Prediction: 🏆 Spain 1 France 0 ⚽

🏅 Spain vs France: Match Winner Odds
Spain and France have met a total of 36 times in their footballing history, and Spain have won 16 times compared to France's 13. Some quick maths lets us know that there have been a total of seven draws. They last met in the UEFA Nations League three years ago, with France coming out on top 2-1.
Matches between these two nations are always tight, and the bookmakers feel that this will be the case once more. They have Spain as the slight favourites, but France have not been ruled out despite their poor performances as of late. Below you can check out the match winner odds for this game:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Spain | 2.59 | 2.59 | 2.59 | 2.70 | 2.70 |

France | 3.05 | 3.5 | 3.05 | 3.10 | 3.10 |
⚽ Spain vs France: Both Teams To Score Odds
With the talent that both Spain and France have up top, you would usually back both teams to find the back of the net. However, France have not been firing in front of goal at all at this tournament, so it is not that much of a surprise to see the bookies not backing both teams to score. Those who like to test their luck on this market can check out the both teams to score odds in the following table:
BTTS | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Yes | 2.02 | 2.02 | 2.02 | 1.95 | 2.00 |
No | 1.74 | 1.74 | 1.74 | 1.65 | 1.74 |
🥅 Spain vs France: Over/Under Goals Odds
The bookmakers are pretty certain that there will be over 1.5 goals scored in this match but under 2.5 goals. Thus, since they do not think that both teams will score, what these odds tell us is that the bookies believe that the most likely outcome of this match is for Spain to win 2-0. If you like to wager on the over/under 2.5 goals market, then check out the odds below:
Over/Under 2.5 Goals | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Over 2.5 | 2.54 | 2.54 | 2.49 | 2.48 | 2.55 |
Under 2.5 | 1.46 | 1.46 | 1.47 | 1.45 | 1.50 |
✔️ Spain vs France Betting Tips
Now that I have given you some of the top Spain vs France odds to consider when betting on this game, I am now going to provide you with some betting tips for this game.
Even if you have a free bet that you are going to be using on this game, I still recommend that you get into a routine of reading betting tips from tipsters before you go ahead and finalise any wager. The more knowledge that you gain, the higher your success rate will be - although, nothing can ever be guaranteed when sports betting. Do not waste any free bets that you have by putting them on an outcome which has next to no chance of coming to fruition.
- Tip 1: Bet on Spain to win: Spain have been one of the only top nations at Euro 2024 that have turned up and played how we know they can. They keep the ball extremely well and always aim to get it back as quickly as they can when they lose it. In the five games that they have played, they have scored 11 goals, while conceding just two. By contrast, France have scored just three goals, with two of these being own goals. However, they have only conceded once. Everything points to a tight match, with Spain edging it 1-0. You can currently find odds of 2.70 at BetUK Sports.
- Tip 2: Bet on both teams not to score: Usually I would definitely back both teams to score as they have plenty of attacking talent on display, but France have not been at their best in front of goal at this tournament. Against Portugal, they took 20 shots on goal but did not manage to convert one of them. I can see Spain scoring and keeping France out. If you agree, then you will be able to find odds of 1.74 at Myriadplay for this outcome.
- Tip 3: Back Fabian Ruiz to score: Fabian Ruiz, for me, has been one of Spain's best players in Germany, and he has topped off his solid displays by scoring two goals so far. The PSG man is not known for scoring goals, but he has shown that he can take an opportunity when it comes his way. I can see him scoring the only goal of the game, and LeoVegas Sports are currently offering odds of 15.00 for him to score at any time.
- Tip 4: Put your money on a 1-0 Spain win: I have already explained my reasonings for thinking why Spain will win this match 1-0, and if you agree with this then you can consider placing a correct score bet. At the time of writing, you can find odds of 6.15 at Betiton Sport for Spain to win the match 1-0.
n.b. When you are betting on any type of sport, it is important to remember to gamble responsibly. I suggest that you set up a budget with an amount of money that you know you can afford to lose if your bets are off. Also, consider placing some deposit limits.
1️⃣Spain Update
Spain were one of the outside favourites heading into this competition a little over three weeks ago, but with the performances that they have been putting in, they propelled themselves to the top of the tree. To have scored 11 goals in five matches while conceding just two - one of which was an own goal - is a very impressive feat. When teams are playing against the Spanish they know that they need to look after the ball well because it could take a while for them to get it back if they lose it.
Another player to keep an eye on in Spain's team is Rodri as the Manchester City man is one of the best midfielders in the world. It is no surprise that his team, whether it is City or Spain, usually win when he is commanding the midfield. As well as being solid in defence, he can also set up attacks and can chip in with the odd goal. Below are Spain's previous five match results:

2️⃣France Update
France were one of the favourites to go on and lift the trophy and they might still go on to do so, but they will not have done with any style. We all expected France to play with flair and blow some teams away at this European Championship, but they have just not clicked at all up front yet. They are managing to create plenty of chances, but they are struggling to convert the chances that they make. You would have got good odds on France making it to the semi-finals without scoring a goal in open play.
The player who I will be keeping an eye on in this match is Kylian Mbappe, who has been underwhelming in Germany. I had actually backed him to be the top scorer in the competition, but he has just one goal, which was a penalty, from the four matches that he has played. It will be interesting to see how he fairs at the Bernabeu next season as he will not be playing in a farmer's league. Below are France's last five results:

Portugal0 France0 | 01.07.24 UEFA EURO 2024 |
