Every round of Premier League matches sees one unlucky team have to take on the might of Manchester City, and Brentford are the ones who have one of the most unenviable tasks in world football in Round 23. The fact that they are playing at home will not make this task any easier. So, will Brentford surprise us all and pick up three points, or will Manchester City ease their way to yet another win to keep plenty of pressure on Liverpool at the top of the table? Find out by reading my prediction below.
🏆 Brentford vs Manchester City: Who Will Win?
Brentford are sitting just four points above the Relegation Zone, so a match against Pep Guardiola's Manchester City is the last thing that they would have wanted on their fixtures list. Especially when you consider the form that they have been in - they have picked up just 6 points from the last 30 that have been on offer. Only Sheffield United have picked up fewer points than the Bees in this time frame.
Manchester City will be looking to remain in second place and within touching distance of Liverpool in first, and they will expect to walk away from the Gtech Community Stadium with all three points in the bag. They also have a game in hand, which is something that Jurgen Klopp and his men will be wary of. They are averaging just under 2.5 goals per game, so it should at least be an exciting match from a neutral point of view.
For, and probably for everyone else, there is only one winner in this match, and it is not the home side. This should end up being a comfortable win, and I am predicting Manchester City to win 3-1.
My Prediction: 🏆 Brentford 1 Manchester City 3 ⚽
💯 Brentford vs Manchester City Match Odds
A prediction, in my opinion, is incomplete if it does not offer a look at some of the top odds that quality sports betting sites are offering for the match. There are many different football betting markets that you can find at established and new UK betting sites, and below you can find the odds that five of my favourite bookies are offering for the match winner, over/under 2.5 goals, and both teams to score.
The five sports betting sites that I mention below are all top-quality bookies that offer a variety of free bets, markets, and competitive odds for all of the most popular sporting events. If you would like to find out more about any of these sportsbooks, then select the logos in the table, and you will be taken to our in-depth reviews.
Brentford vs Manchester City: Match Winner Odds
With where these teams sit in the Premier League table, it is not surprising to see the bookies have Manchester City as the overwhelming favourites to go on and win the match. To be honest, with the short odds that are being offered, I really do not see much point in betting on a City win - unless you add them to a big accumulator. Nevertheless, I know some people will still want to back City to win, so below you can find the match winner odds:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Brentford | 7.15 | 7.15 | 7.50 | 8.00 | 8.00 |
Draw | 5.05 | 5.05 | 5.00 | 5.10 | 5.10 |
Manchester City | 1.38 | 1.38 | 1.40 | 1.36 | 1.36 |
Brentford vs Manchester: Both Teams To Score Odds
Sometimes the bookies are adamant that both teams will find the back of the net, but they are not too sure here, which will be down to the fact that Manchester City have one of the best defensive records in the league - only Arsenal and Liverpool have conceded fewer goals. Meanwhile, Brentford have only scored 12 goals in their previous 10 matches. Below are the odds for both teams finding the back of the net:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Yes | 1.77 | 1.77 | 1.60 | 1.75 | 1.81 |
No | 1.98 | 1.98 | 1.95 | 1.90 | 1.96 |
Brentford vs Manchester City: Over/Under 2.5 Goals Odds
The bookies are expecting there to be at least three goals in this match, which is a distinct possibility as Manchester City can score goals for fun when they are playing at the top of their game. In their previous 10 matches, they are averaging 2.3 goals per match, while Brentford have conceded 2.2 goals per match. If you want to put money on this market, then you can find the odds for it below:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Over 2.5 | 1.54 | 1.54 | 1.55 | 1.49 | 1.54 |
Under 2.5 | 2.33 | 2.33 | 2.40 | 2.43 | 2.50 |
✔️ Brentford vs Manchester City - Betting Tips
It is now time for me to give you some of my top football betting tips for this Brentford vs Manchester City match. Now, I am not forcing anyone to use these tips below, but it will not do you any harm to take five minutes to check them out.
- Tip 1: Add a City win to an accumulator: Betting on a City win as a single bet is not worth it because the odds are low and you would need to put down a big stake in order to make any decent returns. However, if you are looking to increase the odds of an accumulator slightly, then it is worth adding a City win. Brentford have beaten City in their last two league meetings, but this Brentford team really are off the boil at present. LeoVegas are offering odds of 1.36.
- Tip 2: Bet on over 2.5 goals: Even if City were to suffer a shock defeat in this match, I do not see Brentford being able to keep City's talented attackers out. The most likely scenario though is that City will have a bit of a field day against a team that is completely out of form and have been conceding goals for fun. If you want to back over 2.5 goals, then BetUK Sports are offering odds of 1.54 for this market.
- Tip 3: Back Erling Haaland to score: The Norwegian has been out for months with an injury, but rumour has it that he will be ready to start against Brentford on Monday evening. If he does start, I would be tempted to put my money on him to score. He will be eager to start helping out his team after his lengthy injury layoff, and I can see him causing the Brentford defenders a whole host of issues. You can find odds of 1.70 at 10Bet Sport.
- Tip 4: Bet on City to win 3-1: If you want to put money on the correct scoreline because you like the odds that are offered for this market, then I think it will finish 3-1 to Manchester City. Betiton Sport, at the time of writing, are currently offering odds of 9.60 for this score.
1️⃣Brentford Update
Thomas Frank has done a great job at Brentford as they have one of the smallest budgets in the league. They have regularly punched above their weight, but maybe this is the season where things catch up to them. They are currently just three points above the Relegation Zone, and their form will be of huge concern to those of a Brentford persuasion. From their previous 10 matches, they have only picked up 6 points, which is worse form than everyone in the league apart from Sheffield United. They need points, and quick, but I do not see them causing Manchester City many issues.

Frank will not be able to call upon a number of players for this clash due to injuries and international duty, and you can see the absentees in the following table:

2️⃣Manchester City Update
When Manchester City drew three matches in a row and then lost to Aston Villa, many pundits thought that was the end of City's title charge for this season. Pep's men have since shown us that this was all complete nonsense as they have since picked up 16 points from 18 to get themselves right back into the title challenge. Not only are they one of the top scorers in the league, but they concede just 1.14 goals per game on average.

Guardiola has a squad depth that all managers in the league would be envious of, but this is not much of a surprise when FFP does not seem to apply to you. He also has plenty of luck when it comes to injuries as he only has only player who will not be available to play on Monday evening. You can see who this is in the table below:
Player | Reason |
---|---|
Manuel Akanji | Unknown Injury |
