The evening Premier League kick-off on the 13th of April sees Manchester United travel to the south coast to take on Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium. United are looking to try and pip Aston Villa to 5th in the hope that the EPL gets an extra Champions League spot, while Bournemouth are shooting above their weight and know that a win here would see them move to within five points of their opponents in the table. Will Bournemouth do the double over United or will the Red Devils exact revenge? Find out my immediate thoughts below:
🏆 Bournemouth vs Manchester United: Who Will Win?
Bournemouth were struggling towards the end of last year and many had them down as potential relegation candidates. However, since the turn of the year, they have been in some pretty decent form and their relegation threats are now well behind them. It is unlikely that they will get into Europe, but the fact that they are in the equation at this stage in the season is a testament to the job that Andoni Iraola is doing. They did lose 2-1 to Luton Town in their previous match, but they will need to put that behind them heading into this match.
Manchester United are said to have had a really poor season, but I am not buying that. Yes, they are lower down than they would like to be and are playing some turgid football, but they are still sitting 6th in the table. 14 other teams would happily swap places with them and the teams above them deserve to be where they are. They will head into this game with plenty of confidence after their 2-2 "win" against Liverpool.
United fans are probably expecting a win in this match, but I am going to go ahead and predict a win for the Cherries as they usually play some decent football at home. As for the scoreline, I think it will finish 2-1 in Bournemouth's favour.
My Prediction: 🏆Bournemouth 2 Man United 1 ⚽
💯 Bournemouth vs Manchester United Match Odds
When these teams met at Old Trafford at the beginning of December 2023, the home side were on the end of a 3-0 thumping. Manchester United had more than twice the possession and shots on goal, but Bournemouth made their shots count. Dominik Solake, who has been brilliant all season for the Cherries, opened the scoring in the 5th minute before Philip Billing and Marcos Sensi scored within five minutes of each other in the second half to seal a famous victory.
Established and new UK betting sites will have odds and markets for the EPL due to how prestigious it is, but you will obviously want to spend your money at the best bookies around. Below you can find five of these alongside the odds that they are offering for three top football betting markets.
🏅 Bournemouth vs Manchester United: Match Winner Odds
Given the fact that the away side are eight points ahead of their opponents, you would probably expect Manchester United to be the slight favourites for this match. However, this is not the case - the bookmakers have the Cherries as the slight favourites, although their odds tell us that this is a match that they are unsure about. This is good for us football bettors as it gives plenty of betting value, as you can see from the match winner odds below:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Bournemouth | 2.40 | 2.40 | 2.40 | 2.40 | 2.43 |
Draw | 3.80 | 3.80 | 3.80 | 3.75 | 3.80 |
Manchester United | 2.59 | 2.59 | 2.63 | 2.65 | 2.65 |
⚽ Bournemouth vs Manchester United: Both Teams To Score Odds
While the five bookmakers that I recommend are quite uncertain as to the outcome of this match, one thing that they are pretty sure about is that both teams will find the back of the net. I agree with this, and you can find out why in the betting tips section of this prediction. For now, just check out the BTTS odds in the table below:
BTTS | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Yes | 1.36 | 1.36 | 1.35 | 1.36 | 1.42 |
No | 2.99 | 2.99 | 2.95 | 2.80 | 2.80 |
🥅 Bournemouth vs Manchester United: Over/Under 2.5 Goals Odds
The bookmakers are just as certain that there will be over 2.5 and under 3.5 goals scored in this game. So, what these odds and those above tell us is that the bookmakers think that this match will end 2-1, with the scoreline more likely being in Bournemouth's favour. If you are the type of punter that likes betting on this total goals market, then you can find the top over/under 2.5 goals odds in the following table:
Over/Under 2.5 Goals | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Over 2.5 | 1.39 | 1.39 | 1.42 | 1.40 | 1.41 |
Under 2.5 | 2.78 | 2.78 | 2.80 | 2.70 | 2.70 |
✔️ Bournemouth vs Manchester United - Betting Tips
Before you bet on this match, whether that is with your own real money or some free bet that you have been lucky enough to acquire, do yourself a favour and have a read of my Bournemouth vs Manchester United betting tips below.
- Tip 1: Bet on Bournemouth to win: I actually fancy Bournemouth to do the double over United for the first time in their Premier League history. They are playing some carefree football at the moment and have proven that they can take on the bigger teams in the league. If the Cherries can get the first goal, then the pressure will be ramped up on United and I can see them crumbling. I think the first goal is very important in this match. BetUK Sports are offering odds of 2.43 for this outcome.
- Tip 2: Bet on both teams to score: From the last ten Premier League matches that these two teams have played against each other, both teams have scored in four of them. Thus, history is against this tip, but United have only kept two clean sheets in their last ten games. Furthermore, Bournemouth have scored in nine of their last ten, with Man City being the only team to keep them out. Those who want to back BTTS can find odds of 1.42 at BetUK Sports.
- Tip 3: Bet on Dominic Solanke to score: Solanke has been on fire this season, scoring 16 goals in the 31 matches that he has played - this tally can only be bettered by Ollie Watkins and Erling Haaland. He caused United all sorts of issues back in December, and I can see him doing the same again against a patched-up United defence. If you want to back Solanke to score, then you can find odds of 2.12 at LeoVegas Sports.
- Tip 4: Bet on Bournemouth to win 2-1: This will be a closer game than the previous encounter, but I believe that the Cherries will come out on top in this one, spurred on by their home advantage. From their previous five games at the Vitality Stadium, they have picked up ten points, so they are a tough nut to crack on home soil. I can see them putting two past Onana, while not keeping a clean sheet. If you want to back a 2-1 scoreline in Bournemouth's favour, then Betiton Sport are offering odds of 9.00.
N.B. Always gamble responsibly. Set yourself a budget and stick to it. Never chase any of your losses.
1️⃣Bournemouth Update
Bournemouth earned promotion to the Premier League for the 2022/23 season, and they put in a solid shift to stay up by five points. They earned 39 points last season, and this year they have already done better than that with seven games still left to play. The Cherries are showing that they belong in the top flight of English football, and a top-half finish would be great for them. Although, they will still have their sights set on an unlikely European spot.
Regarding form, Bournemouth are in 9th place in the table, having picked up 15 points from the previous 30 that have been available. During this time, they have averaged 1.60 goals per match while conceding 1.50. You can see their previous five EPL results below:

Iraola does not have a huge squad of talented players to choose from, so he will be happy that he does not have an extensive injury list at this stage in the season. Their absentees for this match are:
Player | Reason |
---|---|
Marcus Tavernier | Thigh Injury |
Chris Mepham | Unknown |
Luis Sinistera | Thigh Injury |
Ryan Fredericks | Calf Injury |
2️⃣Manchester United Update
Manchester United are 6th place in the table after having picked up 49 points from the 31 matches that they have played. They are 11 points adrift of Villa and Spurs, but it might as well be 12 points because they have a much worse goal difference. They currently have a -1 goal difference, and you have to go all the way back to the 1989/90 season for the last time that they finished the season with a negative goal difference.
They have been scoring a little more freely as of late, averaging 2.10 goals in their last ten matches - they are averaging 1.45 across the whole season. Bournemouth and Luton have scored the same number of goals. They are 6th in the form table, with 17 points from the last 30. Below are their previous five EPL results.
