Erik Ten-Hag's mid-table Manchester United will welcome Ange Postecoglou’s Champions League-chasing Tottenham to Old Trafford on Sunday the 14th of January, and it is yet another Premier League match that has the potential to leave you on the edge of your seat. While us neutrals will be looking for entertainment value, fans of either side will settle for a boring win, so long as they get the points that are on offer. Which begs the question, who will win? Well, find out my thoughts in my prediction below.
🏆 Manchester United vs Tottenham: Who Will Win?
Manchester United, in the second half comeback against Aston Villa on Boxing Day, showed us that they have the players to play some outstanding football, but it always seems to be one step forward and two steps back with them at the moment. In their last EPL match against Nottingham Forest, who are battling relegation, they put in an insipid display and threw away their hard work against Villa. They are 7th in the EPL form table, having picked up just 7 points from the last 18 that have been on offer.
You can never be too sure what Spurs team is going to show up this season, but what you can be sure of is that they will put on a show for the viewers. They are currently sitting in 5th place, just one point adrift of Arsenal and Manchester City, thanks to four wins in their last six matches. This included a 4-1 win over Newcastle and a 3-1 win against an in-form Bournemouth.
Manchester United are playing with a lot of pressure on their shoulders as their fans are getting fed up with their inconsistent and dour football. Spurs, on the other hand, and playing freely under their Australian manager, and seem to be loving life at the moment. As a result of this, my money is on a Tottenham win and, if I had to pick a score, I would go 3-1 to Spurs.
My Prediction: 🏆 Man United 1 Tottenham 3 ⚽

Manchester United vs Tottenham: Match Winner Odds
Surprisingly, the bookmakers have Manchester United as the favourites to win this match, which is probably mostly due to the fact that they are playing at home. Their comeback against Aston Villa from two down probably had some influence on the odds too. While I disagree with this, it is great for us football bettors because it offers good value for a Spurs win. Below you can find the match winner odds for this Manchester United v Tottenham match.

Manchester United vs Tottenham: Both Teams To Score Odds
Spurs have been scoring goals for fun this season, with only Liverpool, Villa, and Manchester City having scored more goals than them. However, they are conceding just under 1.5 goals per match so far. Manchester United are averaging a little over one goal per match, and have failed to score in three of their previous six matches. Out of the previous 10 matches between these two teams, both teams have scored six times. The bookies, as can be seen below, are favouring BTTS:

✔️ Manchester United vs Tottenham - Betting Tips
Now that you know the odds that are on offer for some of the most popular markets, I am now going to give you my top football betting tips for this Man United vs Spurs clash.
- Tip 1: Bet on Tottenham to win: Manchester United do have quality players in their ranks, but they are just too inconsistent. They have shown glimpses of their skill this season, but it has been more dross than brilliance. Meanwhile, Tottenham are enjoying their football and are playing some and are playing some attractive and penetrating stuff. As a result, I expect them to come out on top in this match. Spreadex Sports are offering odds of 2.90 for this outcome.
- Bet on Over 2.5 goals: Goals are not rare when these two teams meet. In fact, you need to go all the way back to 2014 for the last 0-0 between these two teams. That is a total of 19 matches ago. Spurs know where the back of the net is, but their attacking play leaves them vulnerable at the back, so I am sure that there will be at least three goals in the game. William Hill have odds of 1.44 available for this market.
- Bruno Fernandes to be booked: If you like to place a bet on a player to pick up a booking, then Fernandes is my choice for this match. Not only does he love a moan when things are not going United's way, but he is also not afraid to dive in order to try and gain his team an advantage. It seems to be a common theme among Portuguese footballs - look at Jota against Newcastle. He has a total of nine yellows this season, and Betiton Sport have odds of 3.30 for him to enter the referee's book.
1️⃣ Manchester United Update
When Manchester United came from two goals down against Aston Villa to claim all three points, pundits and fans all wondered whether this was the turning point for Ten Hag and his men. I knew that they would go on and lose their next match, and that is exactly what they did against a lowly Nottingham Forest. Alongside this defeat to Forest, in their previous six matches, they have also lost to Bournemouth and West Ham. Things are certainly rotten in the state of Old Trafford, and I do not see Ten Hag surviving until the end of the season.

2️⃣Tottenham Update
Spurs finished the 2022/23 season in 8th place, and there was plenty of doom and gloom at the club. They were playing some turgid and boring football, and had missed out on any type of European football this season. However, the sun is shining once more at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium thanks to the entertaining brand of football that they are now playing. Additionally 12 points from the last 18 available has moved them to just one point adrift of the Champions League.
