The Cricket World Cup's 41st game will take place at Bangalore's M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on November 9th, and it will see Sri Lanka take on New Zealand. The Black Caps are still in with a shot of booking a semi-final spot, while Sri Lanka are out already. Will the Kiwis put one step in the last four, or will a young Sri Lanka side topple them? You can check out my views below and also find the top cricket betting sites for those who want to wager on this game.
💯 New Zealand v Sri Lanka Betting Odds
A bookmaker who is happy to accept punters from the United Kingdom knows the importance of offering a quality platform for cricket betting since it is one of the biggest sports across Britain. Not every bookmaker has been cut from the same cloth, and this is where my knowledge comes to good use as I know some of the top bookmakers for British cricket lovers.
Below I have given you some quality betting odds for this New Zealand vs Sri Lanka game for three markets that I regularly enjoy placing wagers on.
Match Winners Odds: New Zealand v Sri Lanka
Those who want to place a wager on the winner of this NZ vs SL game, then here are some match winner odds that might entice you:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
New Zealand | 1.17 | 1.17 | 1.22 | 1.22 | 1.25 |
Sri Lanka | 3.80 | 3.80 | 4.20 | 3.50 | 4.00 |
Top Batsman Odds: New Zealand v Sri Lanka
If you are searching for a market that allows you to feel that you are participating in the game as well, then you might want to think about having a good look at the top batsman market. With such a market, what you are tasked with doing is predicting the batsmen who will score the most runs for their team. If you are not emotionally invested in a match because you do not support either team, then you can ramp up the excitement levels in this market.
Below I have given you three Kiwi and Afghan batsmen that I believe are well worth your consideration for top scoring for their team. I have also given you the top batsman odds that some top bookies currently have available:
New Zealand:
Player | ||
---|---|---|
Devon Conway | 4.00 | 2.87 |
Kane Williamson | 4.50 | 3.00 |
Rachin Ravindra | 4.33 | 3.50 |
Sri Lanka:
Player | ||
---|---|---|
Kusal Mendis | 4.50 | 3.25 |
Pathum Nissanka | 4.50 | 3.25 |
Sadeera Samarawickrama | 5.50 | 3.75 |
Top Wicket Taker Odds: New Zealand v Sri Lanka
In a game of cricket, each ball is an event, and some balls, 60 at most, can be made even more eventful by betting on a bowler to be their team's top wicket taker. Choose the player that you believe will be the best bowler for their country on the day, and then you get to experience a range of emotions whenever they are running into bowl. If your chosen player ends up with the same wicket numbers as one of their team members, the winner will be determined by the best economy.
Below are two tables with three bowlers from each team that could go on to win this market, and their top wicket taker odds have been added too.
New Zealand:
Player | ||
---|---|---|
Trent Boult | 3.00 | 2.75 |
Tim Southee | *goto William-Hill-Sport[4.50] | 3.25 |
Mitchell Santner | 4.33 | 4.00 |
Sri Lanka:
Player | ||
---|---|---|
Dilshan Madushanka | 2.75 | 2.87 |
Maheesh Theekshana | 5.00 | 3.75 |
Kasun Rajitha | 5.50 | 3.50 |

🔍 New Zealand v Sri Lanka Match Winner Prediction
New Zealand picked up four wins from their first four games of the 2023 World Cup, and many started to consider them as one of the contenders for the title. However, lately, they have been on a bit of a losing streak as they have lost their last four games. After the great start that they had to this competition, they will be gutted if they do not qualify for the last four. Sri Lanka have no possibility of qualifying, so they are playing for pride.
The Black Caps will consider themselves a little bit unfortunate to have lost against Pakistan in their last game. They batted extremely well and posted a big score of 401/6, but Fakhar Zaman and some rain delays saw them lose the game by 21 runs via the much-maligned Duckworth-Lewis System. This defeat has increased the pressure for this next match as they know that a loss could scupper their chances of qualification.
Sri Lanka lost to Bangladesh in their last game, but the match will be remembered for the wrong reason. Shakib Al Hasan appealed for a "Timed Out" dismissal against Angelo Matthews, who was waiting for a new helmet strap, and the appeal was upheld by the on-field umpires. They will need to put this sense of injustice behind them if they are to give New Zealand a game.
New Zealand are the favourites with the bookies to win this game, and I agree with them since I think that New Zealand have better players at their disposal. They should be able to cope with the extra pressure that they will be under.
My New Zealand v Sri Lanka winner prediction: New Zealand to win!
✔️ New Zealand v Sri Lanka CWC Betting Tips
Have a look at the following Cricket World Cup betting tips before you go ahead and put your money on any markets for this match.
Match Winner: New Zealand to Win
New Zealand and Sri Lanka have played a total of 101 matches against each other, and New Zealand lead the way with 51 wins to Sri Lanka's 41. There has been a total of 8 no results and 1 tie. The Kiwis have played better cricket throughout the tournament, have better players, and have a history with them, so it should not be difficult to see why I have opted for New Zealand to win this match.
Yes, the Black Caps have lost four consecutive games, but this does not give us the whole picture. They did not play badly in those defeats and could have had more wins to their name if they had some more luck. If I were to compose a combined NZ and SL XI, most of my selected players would be Kiwis.
Sri Lanka's squad is lacking in experience, and this has shown throughout the competition. However, their youngsters are very talented, and this tournament will stand them in good stead for the future. If everything clicks, they can give the Black Caps a good match, but I still do not think that they will have enough to win.
Although I believe that the Black Caps will come out victorious, I would not recommend betting on them since they have short odds. If you still want to place a match winner bet, then Spreadex currently have odds of 1.25.
New Zealand's Top Batsman Winner: Rachin Ravindra to Win
Rachi Ravindra has been a revelation at this tournament, scoring 523 runs in 8 matches with an average of 74.71 - this has included no fewer than three centuries. With such figures, it should be no surprise to see that I have backed him to score the most runs for New Zealand in this game. He has been in the form of his life and is a highly entertaining player to watch.
If you would like to put some cash on Ravindra to be New Zealand's top scorer, then William Hill are currently offering odds of 4.33.
Sri Lanka's Top Batsman Winner: Sadeera Samarawickrama to Win
I have been impressed by Sadeera Samarawickrama during this tournament as he has proved himself to be a very talented middle-order batsman. He has scored a total of 372 runs in 8 games and currently averages 62 with the bat. No other Sri Lankan batsman comes close to such a high average.
If you want to bet on Samarawickrama to be the top scorer for Sri Lanka, then William Hill currently have odds of 5.50 available.
New Zealand's Top Wicket Taker: Mitchell Santner to Win Top Wicket Taker
Trent Boult is someone to always keep in mind for New Zealand's top bowler, but I have decided to opt for Mitchell Santner to win since he has been one of the best bowlers in the tournament. He has flummoxed batsmen with his delivery and pace variation and his willingness to toss the ball up in order to tempt big drives out of batters. In 8 games, he has 14 wickets with a 26.86 average.
If you feel that Santner will pick up the most Sri Lankan wickets, then William Hill have odds of 4.33 on offer.
Sri Lanka's Top Wicket Taker: Dilshan Madushanka to Win Top Wicket Taker
Dilshan Madushanka has been one of the best fast bowlers at the 2023 Cricket World Cup, and there will be many franchises interested in his signature for the big limited-over events. In the 8 games that he has played, he has collected no fewer than 21 wickets at a really impressive 22.24 average. He has caused issues for some of the best batters in the world, and I would be surprised if he did not add to his tally.
Those who want to back Madushanka to take the most Kiwi wickets can find odds of odds of 2.87 at Kwiff Sports.

📰 Team News for New Zealand v Sri Lanka
You should not place random wagers and hope that Lady Luck is smiling on you as you will usually end up losing the bet that you placed. You might get smiled upon every now and then, but it will not become a ritual. A quality tip that I can give you is to always do your best to improve your player and team knowledge whenever you can since this type of knowledge is power. However, always remember that winning is not something that can ever be guaranteed.
