🔍 England v New Zealand Match Winner Prediction
The 2023 Rugby World Cup is currently taking place in France, and those who follow both rugby and cricket will know that the majority of the matches have been complete walkovers. Thankfully, the matches in India should be much closer, leading to plenty of excitement and drama.
England are the favourites with the bookmakers to get their campaign off to a flier, and this can probably be put down to the fact that they recently beat the Kiwis 3-1 in an ODI series. However, we all know that the Black Caps seem to punch above their weight when playing at big international events. I am expecting a close game between two very talented sides, but I think England will go on to be victorious.
My England v New Zealand winner prediction: England to win!
✔️ England v New Zealand CWC Betting Tips
Let me now give you some top betting tips for this opening game between England and New Zealand.
Match Winner: England to Win
These two teams are no strangers to each other as they have played a total of 95 ODI matches against each other - England have won 45 of them, while New Zealand have won 44 - there have been 4 no results and 2 ties. England won the last three matches of their ODI series very comfortably, but New Zealand always show their pedigree at the World Cup, and I am not expecting as big a win this time.
England have a batting lineup that can make any other nation jealous as they can call upon the likes of Dawid Malan, Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, Jos Buttler, Harry Brook, and Ben Stokes. The Black Caps have a very good bowling unit, so this game will probably swing this way and that, with England's strength in depth coming to the fore. Thus, my prediction for this match is for England to win.
If you would like to bet on England to be victorious in this match, then Spreadex Sports are offering odds of 1.47.
England’s Top Batsman Winner: Dawid Malan to Win
England's batting department is full of players who can change a match in the blink of an eye with their big hitting, but every team needs a Mr. Consistent, and that title can firmly be placed upon Malan's shoulders. When wickets are tumbling at one end, Malan is usually the one with the cool head to lead England to calmer waters. He has played a total of 21 ODI matches for England, scoring 1046 runs with a 61.53 average. He has smashed 5 centuries and 5 half-centuries to date.
If you want to bet on Malan being the top scorer for England against New Zealand, then William Hill are offering odds of 4.00.
New Zealand's Top Batsman Winner: Devon Conway to Win
Consistency is what I look for when it comes to the top batsman market, and Conway has definitely been consistent over the last 12 months or so. In the 22 games that he has played for New Zealand, he has notched up 874 runs at a pretty handy average of 46.00. England will want to see the back of him pretty quickly because they know the damage that he can do if he sticks around.
If Conway is also your top pick for the highest scorer for New Zealand, then William Hill are offering odds of 3.75.
England’s Top Wicket Taker: Adil Rashid to Win Top Wicket Taken
Jos Buttler will have many top bowlers that he can call upon to limit the runs that the Kiwis score, but the one bowler who has been impressing me a lot lately is Adil Rashid, and I think he will have a very good tournament in India. He has become a very important bowler for England in this format, especially in the middle overs as his variations in pace and spin help to restrict the run rate. Rashid should get assistance from the pitch, so this is why I fancy him to be the top bowler for England.
If you want to put your cash on Rashid to be the top wicket-taker for England in this match, then William Hill are offering odds of 4.33.
New Zealand's Top Wicket Taker: Tim Southee to Win Top Wicket Taker
New Zealand, despite being a small country, have always been able to produce top-quality cricket players, and one of my favourite Kiwi bowlers is Tim Southee. This is going to be the last time that he appears at an ODI Cricket World Cup, so he will be looking to go out with a bang. During his New Zealand ODI career, he has picked up 210 wickets at a handy average of 33.46. Yes, the wickets will probably be more spin-friendly, but Southee has the guile and talent to cause problems on any surface.
If you believe that Southee will be the top wicket-taker for his side, then William Sport have odds of 3.25.
