The Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi will play host to the 24th game of the Cricket World Cup, with Australia and the Netherlands battling it out for the points. At the end of this game, we will be halfway through the competition. The Aussies are back in the groove, while the Netherlands caused an upset last week with a win against South Africa. Who will pick up the two important points here? Well, check out my thoughts below and the odds that British cricket betting sites are offering.
💯 Australia v Netherlands Betting Odds
Cricket is one of the most popular sports in Britain, so it should not be much of a surprise to find out that those bookmakers that accept British sports bettors will offer a wide range of cricket betting markets. What are the best markets for cricket fans? Well, this is a subjective matter, but here are the betting odds for three of my favourite markets.
Match Winners Odds: Australia v Netherlands
If you want to place money on the winner of this game, then the match winner odds can be found in the table below:
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Australia | N/A | N/A | 1.06 | 1.03 | 1.05 |
Netherlands | N/A | N/A | 9.00 | 7.50 | 10.00 |
Top Batsman Odds: Australia v Netherlands
I am always looking for entertainment value when betting on any sport, and one of the most exciting markets in cricket is the top batsman market. With this type of wager, you need to try and predict the player who will hit the most runs during their team's innings. When you choose a batter, you will feel that you are experiencing every ball that they face, and you'll feel their disappointment when they are dismissed.
Below you can find the top batsman odds for six batters that I think can win this market in this AUS vs NED match:
Australia:
Player | ||
---|---|---|
David Warner | 4.33 | 2.62 |
Steve Smith | 4.33 | 3.00 |
Mitchell Marsh | 4.50 | 3.25 |
Netherlands:
Player | ||
---|---|---|
Colin Ackermann | 5.50 | 3.75 |
Max O'Dowd | 5.50 | 4.00 |
Sybrand Engelbrecht | 11.00 | 5.00 |
Top Wicket Taker Odds: Australia v Netherlands
If you side more with the bowlers than the batsmen and want to follow one of your favourite bowlers more closely, then you can decide to place a top wicket taker bet. This is where you need to predict the player that will get the most wickets in an innings. In the event of two bowlers finishing with the same number of wickets, their economy rates will be used to determine the winner.
Below I have given you three Dutch and Aussie bowlers that you should consider for this market and the top wicket taker odds that you can choose from:
Australia:
Player | ||
---|---|---|
Mitchell Starc | 3.50 | 2.87 |
Pat Cummins | 4.33 | 3.60 |
Adam Zampa | 4.33 | 3.25 |
Netherlands:
Player | ||
---|---|---|
Bas de Leede | 4.50 | 3.25 |
Paul van Meekeren | 4.50 | 3.75 |
Roelof van der Merwe | 5.00 | 3.60 |
The above odds were correct at the time of writing. For updated odds, go to the bookmakers' sites.
🔍 Australia v Netherlands Match Winner Prediction
Australia's World Cup campaign got off to a bad start with two losses in their first two games, but it seems that they have now turned the corner, which is something that their rivals will be keeping a close eye on - they know how to win this competition as they have five World Cup trophies under their belts. The Dutch have played well in parts across the competition, with their best performance coming up against South Africa last week.
Although I would be happy to see the Dutch win against Australia as I always enjoy seeing the underdog play well, I cannot see it happening. Australia's have a better batting and bowling unit, and a win for the Netherlands here would be a bigger shock than them defeating South Africa. The guys at the top of the batting order for the Netherlands have been quite inconsistent, and I envisage them struggling against Australia's bowling attack with few runs on the board. Thus, the only outcome that I see here is an Australian win.
My Australia v Netherlands winner prediction: Australia to win!
✔️ Australia v Netherlands CWC Betting Tips
Here are some betting tips for this Australia v Netherlands Cricket World Cup match.
Match Winner: Australia to Win
The head-to-head record does not offer much insight into what might happen in this match as these two countries have only met two times on the cricket field - for what it is worth, Australia won both of those matches. I would bet on the Aussies to make it three from three as they have a better squad. No player in the Dutch team could get into the Australian side, which is all that you need to know.
The Dutch, as always, will give it everything and could give the Aussies a scare or two, but I am sure that they will not win this match. Australia will have added incentive as they know that another win will cement their space in the top four.
However, although I feel that the Aussies will win, I do not recommend that you bet on such an outcome as the odds are really short. To get any sort of decent potential returns, you would need to wager a lot, and the risk is not worth it - there is always a chance that an upset will happen.
Those who want to put money on the match winner can find odds of 1.06 at William Hill.
Australia's Top Batsman Winner: David Warner to Win
There has been a lot of talk about David Warner's retirement, but he still has the skills to succeed at this level - as he showed against Pakistan on Friday when he smashed a sensational 163 off 124 balls. I think he will enjoy batting against the Dutch bowlers, and I can see him scoring plenty of boundaries in the PowerPlay to get his team off to a flier.
William Hill currently have odds of 4.33 for Warner to top score for the Australians.
Netherlands' Top Batsman Winner: Colin Ackermann to Win
It is a toss-up when choosing the best batsman for the Dutch as they have not shown any sort of consistency through the competition. For this game, my money will be on Colin Ackerman to be their top batter because I like his decision-making and calmness when he is at the crease. He is also not lacking in technique and power, so it would be no surprise if he scored the bulk of their runs.
If you believe that Ackermann will top score for the Netherlands, then William Hill currently have odds of 5.50.
Australia's Top Wicket Taker: Adam Zampa to Win Top Wicket Taker
Many people would probably be tempted to bet on one of Australia's quality pace bowlers, but I will go against the grain and put my money on their spinner, Adam Zampa. I have been impressed with him in recent games, and I think many batsmen do not give him the respect that he deserves. They are always happy to go after him to try and smash him out of the attack, but this increases his chances of getting wickets.
Those who want to put their money on Zampa can find odds of 4.33 at William Hill.
Netherlands' Top Wicket Taker: Paul van Meekeren to Win Top Wicket Taker
The Netherlands’' strongest suit is their bowling, which makes it hard to select the bowler that will take the most wickets for them. I have opted for Paul van Meekeren as he rarely goes for a lot of runs, which might force the Australians to go harder at him than they would like. He always mixes his variation and pace, which can cause many different issues.
William Hill have odds of 4.50 on offer to those who think that van Meekeren will be the best Dutch bowler.
